Searcy was originally known as White Sulphur Springs, and was officially named for Richard Searcy, a former Superior Court judge for the Arkansas Territory. With a population of roughly 25,000, Searcy is not only the county seat, but the cultural and business capitol of White County.
Each Christmas, White County residents converge on downtown Searcy to witness the lighting of the White County Courthouse. The courthouse was built in 1871 and said to be the oldest functional courthouse in Arkansas. The ceremony represents all that is good about small-town America, and one reason why Searcy's motto of "The city where thousands live as millions wish they could" rings true for the whole county.
Searcy is home to Harding University, affiliated with the Churches of Christ and the largest private university in Arkansas, and the world headquarters of Yarnell's Ice Cream.
Beebe is home to a campus of Arkansas State University, and Bald Knob, where "the Ozarks meet the Delta," hosts the annual Strawberry Fest.
Centennial Bank is proud to call Searcy and White County, from Ozark foothills to Delta strawberries, home.
